Moss Tech has something really special to celebrate. Andy & Nicky were at this years CEDIA Awards in London, but what Andy had kept secret from Nicky was that she was going to be receiving this years special recognition award for her work with a charity she founded back in 2016 called Cost of Cancer.
She founded this charity after she helped to nurse her best friend through the last few months of her life back in 2009, and a question she kept asking not only her friend but herself was when do you get money from the government? She discovered that there was no money. How can someone pay into a system all of her life and not get any help in the last few months of this life. So after years of self doubt and a huge lack of confidence she started to bring together a plan to start a charity whereby families who were receiving treatment for cancer could apply to receive financial help to pay household bills, bills like gas, electricity, rent, council tax, the bills that still come in every month and still need to be paid regardless of what the family may be going through.
So with some help from one of her now trustees Emma Thomas, Cost of Cancer was born. Fast forward 9 years and the charity has helped countless families and given away tens of thousands of pounds.
