Niko to launch award-winning new range of ceiling detectors

A first-of-its-kind range of detectors, which ensures effortless installation thanks to a unique patent-pending mounting system, is to be launched by Niko. The Belgian number one in switching material, socket outlets and smart home products will introduce this completely new and installer-friendly product line in May. The accompanying user-friendly app will assist installers with commissioning and maintenance. The pioneering new detector design received two A’Design Awards and an iF Design Award.

The ceiling detectors, which will be launched internationally in May, not only blend perfectly into each interior, they are also designed to be as installer-friendly as possible, taking full account of the installer’s particular needs. The new product range is therefore fully in line with Niko’s objective to develop innovative and smart electronic solutions with an emphasis on design, functionality and ease of installation.

Effortless installation thanks to a pioneering mounting concept

The detectors come with a unique patent-pending mounting concept called SnapFit. This system facilitates fast and easy mounting and can be used in all kinds of low hanging and fixed ceilings, because of the multifunctional mounting brackets, which can handle a wide range of material thickness. Thanks to the screwless plug-in terminal, wires are easily plugged in. Also, once the wires are connected, the connectors and mounting features are covered in no time with a snap-on cover.

User-friendly app for easy commissioning

Commissioning the detector is just as easy as installing it, thanks to the accompanying user-friendly and improved smartphone app. The Bluetooth connection ensures wireless two-way communication, which results in easy, fast commissioning, adjustment and maintenance without the need for other installation tools. Settings can be done in advance and can then be distributed to multiple detectors at once.

Easy selection

The multifunctional range consists of three different types of detectors: 230 V, DALI and DALI BMS detectors. This new aligned range of 360° detectors has a uniform installation and programming method, and the clear overview of properties and functions makes it very easy for the installer to correctly select the products.

Award-winning design

Attention to detail is an important asset of the Niko design language. Contemporary architectural luminaires are one of the main inspiration sources for the design of the new detector range. The discrete design, featuring a cover plate that is available in different colours, blends perfectly into different types of interiors. And although most existing detectors have a ‘technical looking’ reverse side, Niko designs this with at least the same level of attention to detail as the front side, which makes Niko products instantly recognisable.

In 2018, two of the detectors in the new range received a golden and bronze A’Design award. A’Design Awards aims to highlight the best achievements in design, design concepts and design-oriented products worldwide, in all creative disciplines and industries. In 2019, one of the detectors received an iF Design Award, in the category Building Technology.

The first detectors will be available as of May 2019.
